The peace and security situation prevailing in Uganda makes the country a safe tourist destination. This was stated by Mr.
H.E. Amb. Nelson Ocheger, Uganda’s High Commissioner to the Federal Republic of Nigeria, met with Hon. Amb. Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Nigeria, at the Minister’s office in Abuja.
Uganda has asserted its global presence at the just-concluded summit of the G77+China and that of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in Kampala.
The 3rd South Summit of the G77+China and the 19th summit of NAM both took place at Munyonyo Commonwealth Resort Hotel, with the latter opening first on January 15. It was the first time Uganda was hosting a high number of delegates from different blocs. Monday's official closure of the G77+China summit by President Yoweri Museveni ended days of fanfare. Delegates to both summits were treated to a red carpet and groups of dancers dressed in national colors.

Uganda has appointed Mr. Deepak Bhurani as Honorary Consul in Freetown, Sierra Leone. This was revealed by Amb. Nelson Ocheger, Uganda’s High Commissioner to the Republic of Sierra Leone (resident in Abuja), as he formally introduced the new Honorary Consul to Hon. Francess Alghali, Sierra Leone’s Ag. Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
Uganda Airlines Inaugural Flight to Abuja, Nigeria
The minister of state for works and transport Fred Byamukama has expressed optimism that the new Uganda Airlines route to the Nigerian capital will promote economic development and investment between the two countries.
